About Us

Formed in early 2008, we are a full-service Patent Attorney firm, based in Bath, and now in Exeter, in the South West of the UK, and only 45 minutes from the UK Patent Office. However, we deal with clients in various locations nationally and internationally and are prepared to travel, within reason, to meet you at a mutually convenient location.

The principal attorney is Lewis Hands, B.Eng (Hons), ARSM, RPA, EPA, CPA. We also have other trusted patent and trade mark attorneys which handle some of our work on a contract basis.

Lewis is a registered European Patent Attorney, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office and a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.

Lewis graduated from Imperial College, London with an engineering honours degree. He then spent more than 10 years working as an engineer, project manager and senior manager in the engineering industry.

Lewis has gained considerable experience in the IP sector working for one of the largest private practice patent attorney firms in Europe, in-house for a large multi-national manufacturer of fmcg, and for a medium sized private practice patent attorney firm where he formed very good relations with many SMEs, private individuals and multi-nationals.

His experience lies in all things mechanical, electrical and software related. For example, he has worked with medical devices, automotive components, refrigeration systems, optical communications, general consumer products, baby-related products and mobile phone technology.

He has experience of all forms of intellectual property especially patents, designs, trade marks, licensing, development agreements and confidentiality agreements.

Lewis is a lay trustee of Imperial College Union.
